Not just charity care, faith plays a big role in health care in West Michigan. Yes, many religious organizations provide care for the poor and the uninsured, but what other roles do they play in health care? What is faith-based health care? Is care better? Are outcomes better? What is different? Many believe that treating the mind, body and spirit is the most effective means of health care… how so? How much of our care is delivered by faith-based organizations? How large a part of our local economy are they?

Come to the December forum to explore the role of faith and faith-based organizations in health care. We will provide just a sampling of the broad array of religious health services that exist in our communities. Learn more about the Catholic philosophy of health care practiced by Trinity Health, one of the leading health care organizations in the nation. How about the many programs coming from the Protestant tradition such as those of Hope Network and Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services? Also, learn about one of the many faith-based clinics in Grand Rapids that provides services to the uninsured: Health Intervention Services, or HIS.
