Health Care Vision 2020
Governance Board Charter
Overall purpose: Oversee and lead the Health Care
Vision 2020 initiative of the Alliance for Health. This includes the RWJ
Aligning Forces for Quality (AF4Q) grant activities, the development of a West
Michigan Health Information Exchange (WMHIE) as well as other
activities which may be made part of West Michigan’s efforts to transform health
care within the region.
Reports to: Alliance for Health Board
Staff support: Bob Parrish, Shannon Zackery, Lody
Zwarensteyn
Charge:
- Define governance roles and expectations, inclusive of
this charter—modified as appropriate
- Create, agree upon a name for the overall initiative
- Develop the vision, guiding principles and goals for
the overall initiative, including indicators by which success will be
determined.
- Establish policy, as necessary and appropriate, to
guide the initiative’s operations.
- Establish needed committees and work groups and agree
upon chairs/co-chairs
- Review and affirm committee charters
- Ensure appropriate levels of coordination of activity
across committees
- Approve a communications plan for the overall
initiative
- To AFH Board
- Within the initiative structure
- To all communities/geographic units of West
Michigan
- To key health care stakeholders
- To AFH membership and other interested parties
- To all consumer organizations and groups that can
be identified
- Approve an evaluation plan for the overall initiative
and key components
- In conjunction with the Alliance for Health Board of
Directors, ensure ongoing financial sustainability of AF4Q and WMHIE
initiatives, including but not limited to pursuit of needed additional local
matching funds and other resources, per the recommendations of the Finance
Committee
- Monitor operations/activities/committee work to ensure
that work is proceeding according to plan.
- Ensure, working with staff and appropriate committees,
that all grant requirements and expectations are met

aspects of the initiative, as delegated by the Alliance for Health Board.
