Be an Informed Voter:
Health Care in Election 2008

October 3, 2008
8:30 – 10:00 AM (coffee & networking at 8:00 AM)

Davenport University – DOWNTOWN CAMPUS – Lecture Hall

415 E Fulton - Grand Rapids MI 49503

McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden – which will it be?  The last few weeks until the election will be filled with campaign promises and more television ads than we really want to see.  Health care will no doubt be a key issue.  Will our health care system be better off after the election?  Will there be drastic changes in health care coverage and access?  What about reimbursement rates for Medicare and Medicaid?  What exactly does each candidate propose?  More of the same?  Is reform actually on the horizon?  Will health care costs really be reduced or are the proposals just more band-aids?  Who do you want to put your trust in?

The First Friday Forum will examine the health care platforms of both candidates as well as present current issues important to Michigan.  The reactor panel will provide perspective from the physician, employer and health care communities.   You won’t want to miss this forum – you will be able to go to the polls in November with a better understanding of the issues in health care.

Moderator:
Roger Spoelman, President and CEO, Mercy Health Partners

Speakers:
Representatives from the McCain and Obama campaigns will present each candidate’s health care campaign platform.
Gary Reed, Partner, Cusmano, Kandler & Reed, Governmental Consultants (presenting Michigan issues)

 Reactor Panel:

Bob Roth, President, Roman Manufacturing
Vondie Woodbury, President, Muskegon Community Health Project

This forum will be videotaped and broadcast on Grand Rapids area cable station 24, Livewire, at 7:00 PM, Friday, October 24, 2008.
